The Bushfire Crisis
The Australian Psychoanalytical Society (APAS) wishes to express its concern to everyone who has been affected by the current devastating bush fires. We also wish to convey our thanks to all those emergency personnel involved with the response effort who carry a large burden for the community.
APAS is committed to helping those whose lives have been impacted by trauma. We are therefore also vitally concerned with traumatic impacts associated with climate change, including those associated with the bushfires that are currently ravaging our country.
At the international level APAS has been invited to join the International Psychoanalytical Association's Committee on Climate Change in order to contribute to the thinking about the role psychoanalysts can play in addressing this issue of great contemporary relevance
