The Melbourne Branch of the Australian Psychoanalytical Society (APAS) is planning a training intake in October 2025 with applications now open and closing 31st May, 2025. The Melbourne branch currently aims for a new intake every 3 to 4 years.

Please join us for an information afternoon (in-room only) on Saturday 25th May 2024 at 2pm at the Melbourne Institute for Psychoanalysis, 400 Tooronga Rd, Hawthorn East.
This will be an opportunity for you to meet the Admissions Committee and other members of the Melbourne branch, including recent graduates and will provide an opportunity to discuss your interest in and clarify details about psychoanalytic training.

Psychoanalytic training offers an intensive study of ways of thinking about the human condition, our inner worlds and emotions, and whilst challenging, the immersive training is also enormously engaging, providing in depth theoretical and clinical development as well as the opportunity for self-exploration. The training provides a rich opportunity for development of a psychoanalytic identity and learning from experience.

Training in Child and Adolescent Psychoanalysis as well as Adult Psychoanalysis may also be undertaken.

Further information regarding training prerequisites and requirements is available on the APAS website at https://www.psychoanalysis.asn.au/full-training

Graduates become eligible for accreditation with both the International Psychanalytical Association / (IPA) and the Australian Psychoanalytical Society (APAS).

If you wish to attend the information afternoon, please email Dr Teresa Russo at trusso@bigpond.net.au or Dr Adele Carmady at acarmady@gmail.com .
